The idea
Your gift costs you less than it delivers
With a periodic gift the tax office pays part of it. If you want to give about € 100 net, you can pledge about € 160 periodically. You get the difference back through your tax return, up to 37.56% of your gift.
You can choose: your gift costs you less, or you let more reach the school for the same amount out of your own pocket. With the calculator alongside you see both at once.
The school in Daban has 24 classrooms. Fully finishing one classroom costs € 6,000. With a periodic gift you make a tangible difference at a lower net cost.
Do you want the school to cost you net € 224,78 and still let more arrive? Then you can pledge periodically € 360,00 per year. The foundation then receives € 135,22 extra, paid by the tax office and not out of your own pocket.
This is an indication. Your actual benefit depends on your income and the rate at which you deduct. At the basic rate that is 36.97%, at the highest rate 37.56%. When in doubt, ask your tax adviser.
How does a periodic gift work?
A periodic gift is a donation you make for at least five years. You fix it with a simple agreement between you and the foundation. No notary, no costs.
1. You choose a yearly amount
You decide how much you want to give the school per year over the coming five years. It can be collected monthly or once a year.
2. We fill in the agreement together
A periodic gift is fixed in a private agreement. Since 2014 this no longer has to go through a notary. We send you the form and help you fill it in.
3. You deduct every euro
Because the gift is fixed, there is no threshold and no maximum. You deduct the full yearly gift on your income tax return.
4. If your income stops, the gift stops
If you unexpectedly lose your income, or the beneficiary dies, the agreement can be ended by law. So you are not locked into five years.
