Objective
Stichting Fofie Foundation aims to promote educational opportunities for children in Ghana and young people in the Netherlands. In particular, the foundation does this by building and supporting schools in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, and by supporting young people in the Netherlands. The foundation is non-profit.
Main points of the policy plan
- Raising funds from individuals and companies in the Netherlands, through one-off gifts, monthly support and periodic donations.
- Using the funds raised for the construction and finishing of schools in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, carried out by our own local building team.
- Finishing an ongoing project before starting a new one. The current main project is the completion of the school with 24 classrooms in Daban near Kumasi.
- Working with a deliberately small, low-cost organisation: no office and an unpaid board, so that most of the funds go to the projects.
- Being accountable through public annual accounts and photo documentation of every building phase.
- Alongside Ghana, preparing projects that give young people in the Netherlands opportunities.
Board and remuneration policy
The board of Stichting Fofie Foundation consists of:
- Dennis Toppin · chair
- Brian Giersthove · treasurer and secretary
Board members receive no remuneration and no attendance fee. The board works entirely unpaid. Only the building team in Ghana receives pay for the construction work. Expenses incurred are reimbursed solely on the basis of actual costs.
Activities
The foundation is building a school of 24 classrooms in Daban near Kumasi with its own local building team. The walls and roofs are up; the foundation finishes and furnishes the classrooms so that children can learn there. Every building phase is recorded on photo and every expense is accounted for in the annual accounts.
In addition, the foundation is preparing projects that give young people in the Netherlands opportunities.
Financial accountability
The foundation publishes an annual report with annual accounts each year. Below you will find the available documents.
